Checo

Terms of Use

Effective October 3, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Loyola Chacon ("we", "us"), the publisher of the Checo app. By creating an account or using Checo, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

The most important part: Checo is a convenience for staying in touch. It is not an emergency service, a medical or safety device, or a monitoring service, and you should never rely on it as your only way of knowing that someone is safe.

1. What Checo is

Checo lets you tell people you choose that you're okay, at times you agree on, and lets them know if a scheduled check-in is missed. It also lets you share short updates ("situations") with people you choose.

2. What Checo is not

If you or someone you know is in danger, call your local emergency number right away.

3. Notifications can fail or arrive late

Check-ins, reminders, missed check-in alerts and other notifications depend on things outside our control, including your device, its settings, its battery, your internet connection, Apple's notification service, and the services that host the app. Any of them can delay a notification, deliver it more than once, or stop it from arriving at all.

A missed check-in alert does not mean something is wrong, and the absence of an alert does not mean someone is safe. If you're worried about someone, contact them directly, and call emergency services if you think they're in danger.

4. Who can use Checo

You must be at least 13 years old to use Checo. If you are under 18, you need the permission of a parent or guardian, who agrees to these terms on your behalf.

5. Your account

You sign in with your Apple account. You're responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your device secure. You can delete your account at any time in the app under Profile, Settings, Delete account.

6. Using Checo responsibly

You agree not to:

You can remove or block anyone in the app. To report a person or content, email us. We may suspend or delete accounts that break these terms.

7. Your content

You keep ownership of the name, photo and text you add. You give us permission to store it and show it to the people you connect with, only so the app can work. How we handle your information is described in our Privacy Policy.

8. Changes and availability

We may change, pause or discontinue Checo or any part of it at any time. We don't promise that the app will always be available, or free of errors or interruptions.

9. No warranties

Checo is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, reliability, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not warrant that check-ins or alerts will be delivered, delivered on time, or delivered correctly.

10. Limit of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss or harm arising from your use of, or inability to use, Checo. This includes harm arising from a check-in, reminder or alert that was missed, delayed, duplicated or wrong, and from the actions of other users.

To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim relating to Checo is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for Checo in the 12 months before the claim, or 50 US dollars.

Some places don't allow certain limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

11. Your responsibility to us

If someone brings a claim against us because of how you used Checo or because you broke these terms, you agree to cover the resulting costs and losses, to the extent the law allows.

12. Apple

These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Checo or its content, and has no obligation to provide support for it. Your use of the app is also subject to Apple's standard license agreement for apps and to the App Store's terms.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, USA, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Colorado, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it elsewhere.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If we do, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll tell you in the app. Continuing to use Checo after a change means you accept the updated terms.
